Centigrade 37
Gottlieb Centigrade 37 (1977)
Production Run: 1600
Designed by: Allen Edwall
Art by: Gordon Morison
Centigrade 37 was my first pinball purchase. I purchased it from a local collector who had a GREAT collection of Gottlieb EMs. The machine was pretty much completely working when purchased. I wanted the machine to be working pretty well since I wasn’t sure of my ability to repair these games. Since that time, I’ve come a LONG way in repair capabilities. My wife and I built a new “thermometer” tape for the backglass animation. It’s worked flawlessly and looks beautiful.
I think it’s a great game. There’s something about the artwork. And, I love that big “Special” Red-Eye that pops on when you advance the thermometer to the top. With well placed shots, you can hear that fabulous “knock” over and over.
This is the only Gottlieb in my collection that was not designed by Ed Krynski.
